[2023 Earth Day] plantarium × Niusnews Gather 40+ Vegan & Vegetarian Brands for Future Market 2.0

2023/05/01

Change the world through food! After drawing more than 10,000 participants last December, the grand vegetarian feast Future Market returned—this time on Earth Day, inviting everyone to enjoy plant-based food while loving the planet!

Promoting the idea of less meat, more plants, the event lowered the barriers to a plant-based lifestyle by bringing together over 40 booths featuring renowned vegetarian eateries, savory bites, desserts, coffee, drinks, and eco-friendly lifestyle products. Guests were encouraged to bring their own reusable tableware and use mobile payment, joining in to “Green Together” and take action toward sustainability.

A Feast of Plant-Based Flavors

Well-known vegetarian brands joined the market, including “Cosmic Sheng Jian” (a new brand from Little Tree Food), “Goodday”—a plant-based Sheng Jian Bao brand founded by celebrity Effie Yuan, Mia Cucina, one of Taipei’s most popular vegetarian Italian restaurants, and even SUNMAI (Golden Sanmai), making its debut in the vegetarian scene. Many other viral online favorites also showcased their creations, giving visitors the chance to both see and taste the future of food.

Free Plant-Based Milk Tea

Alongside the outdoor market, plantarium offered an interactive mission-based activity inside the venue—complete the challenge and redeem a free plant-based milk tea! This promotion highlighted how plant-based milk can deliver the same rich flavor as dairy milk.

The activity was a huge hit—over 600 cups of plant-based milk tea were redeemed in just two days. Many visitors enjoyed it so much that they immediately asked for a second cup!

A Zero-Waste Market

To reduce single-use waste, the event provided reusable bowls, cups, and utensils, which were collected, washed, and reused throughout the event.

Plantarium recruited a team of enthusiastic young volunteers who worked tirelessly from start to finish, ensuring that all tableware was washed spotlessly clean and returned to circulation. Their dedication not only kept the event sustainable but also filled it with warmth and community spirit.

A heartfelt thanks to every partner and volunteer who made this possible. Together, we lightened the Earth’s burden and showed that a better way is possible. Want to be part of this mission? Join the plantarium volunteer team!

Bone Marrow Donation Awareness

The market also joined forces with the Tzu Chi Stem Cell Center, promoting bone marrow donation and on-site registration.

Although Taiwan’s registry contains 460,000 donor entries, nearly half become invalid due to aging out, refusal, or withdrawal. Once donors turn 55, they are automatically disqualified, making it even harder for leukemia patients waiting for a match. This event called on more young people to register and help save lives.

With the successful close of the second Future Market, we believe that every small step taken by each of us can spark awareness and shape a better future for our planet.

But this is only the beginning—more events will be held regularly. Stay tuned with plantarium for the latest updates!
