[Event Recap] Painting Our Everyday Xinyi — Parent-Child Co-Creation Workshop|Roaming Xinyi Cultural Living Festival

2025/06/09

If you were to capture this city with a paintbrush, where would you begin?

The “Xinyi on Canvas: Everyday Happiness — Parent-Child Painting Co-Creation Workshop,” co-hosted by the Xinyi District Office and Plantarium, invited children and parents to slow down, open their imaginations, and paint their own visions of “Our Xinyi” with colors and laughter.

The workshop began with self-portraits. Together, each young artist and their parents sketched familiar cityscapes — the towering Taipei 101, the iconic red LOVE installation, MRT stations, bus stops, the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park chimney, bustling temples… reminding us that every corner is a reflection of our daily lives.

During the creative process, some were overflowing with inspiration, while others hesitated in front of their blank paper. But it didn’t matter — a teacher’s gentle encouragement or a simple prompt felt like magic flowing into their brushes. Gradually, the blank canvases transformed into a vibrant wall of colors — every piece became a unique lens, recording childhood, companionship, and memory.

At the close of the event, families gathered in front of the mural of artworks for a group photo. The children’s and parents’ bright smiles, like sunlight falling across the canvases, were even more beautiful than the paintings themselves — because what truly mattered was the joy of creating together.

That day, we didn’t just paint — we used parent-child co-creation to illustrate the happiness of everyday life.
