Did you know that over 30 species of whales and dolphins inhabit Taiwan’s waters? Among them, the most mysterious and captivating is undoubtedly the sperm whale!

This time, we are honored to invite Liao Hung-chi, a marine literature writer and cetacean observation expert, to guide you across the Kuroshio Current. Through his stories, you can hear the voice of the ocean and gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s precious whale and dolphin culture.
About the Speaker:
Liao Hung-chi, born in 1957 in Hualien, Taiwan, is a renowned writer and marine environmentalist. He is also the founding chairman of the Kuroshio Ocean Education Foundation.
His works focus on the ocean, combining delicate prose with observations of both the Pacific and Taiwan’s eastern coastline, carrying the essence and poetry of the sea in every line. For many years, he has been dedicated to marine conservation, documenting cetaceans and fishing village culture, allowing more people to hear the call of the ocean.
