2025/08/18

Under the warm spring sun, the South Plaza of Songshan Station in Taipei’s Xinyi District once again gathered the city’s green energy and community enthusiasm. Co-hosted by the Xinyi District Office, Taipei City Fire Department, plantārium Concept Space, and the Tzu Chi Foundation, the 2025 Roaming Xinyi Cultural & Lifestyle Festival officially kicked off on March 22, attracting thousands of participants. The event brought together over 30 local brands and nonprofit organizations, offering a rich mix of vegan markets, parent-child activities, health promotion, policy advocacy, and cultural performances—creating a sustainable celebration full of everyday life and public engagement.

This opening event was more than just a market—it was a festival that put local culture and sustainable action into practice, featuring:

  • Health Promotion Services: Xinyi District Health Service Center provided health measurements and interactive knowledge sessions, encouraging citizens to focus on daily wellness.
  • Fire Safety Awareness: Taipei City Fire Department hosted interactive experiences to improve family disaster preparedness and safety skills.
  • Population Policy Information: Showcasing childcare, parenting, and family support policies to help citizens understand government resources.
  • 2025 World Masters Games Promotion Area: Warming up for this international event, inviting citizens to support active aging and contribute to building a healthy city.

Cultural Festival History and Development

The Roaming Xinyi Cultural Festival traces back to 2014, when the Xinyi District Office initiated a series of cultural walking tours and neighborhood explorations. Officially named in 2019, the festival has been centered at the South Plaza of Songshan Station in 2024 and 2025, combining markets, performances, lectures, walking tours, and community activities, gradually becoming Xinyi District’s key annual cultural action plan.

In 2025, the festival has been upgraded into a six-month cultural and lifestyle festival, centered on the theme “Xinyi District × Sustainable Living × Local Regeneration”, featuring a series of activities:

  • Celebrity Lectures: Experts from ecology and nature sharing stories about wetlands, cetaceans, and environmental sustainability.
  • Community Walking Tours: Guided explorations of Xinyi’s ecology and urban texture led by the Wild Bird Society.
  • Sustainability Workshops: DIY experiences, parent-child courses, and lifestyle education proposals.
  • Film Screenings & Exhibitions: Selected sustainability-themed documentaries and showcases of community action outcomes.
